Steve's award
The Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard Award is given by the European Zebrafish Society for exceptional achievements in zebrafish research. It honours the outstanding contribution in the field of genetics of the Nobel Prize winner Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard.
This year's award recognises Steve as one of the earliest researchers to use zebrafish for studying the nervous system. He and his team have made many seminal insights into the development of the forebrain and eyes.
Steve collected the award and gave the prize lecture at the Society's 18th conference, held in Kyoto, Japan.
He said:
I am absolutely delighted and honoured to receive the Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard Award. The community of researchers working with zebrafish is really wonderful and I’ve had a great time working with, and among, such smart, supportive and friendly researchers both locally and across the world.
Congratulations to Steve!
