The Crick-branded bike was made by Triumph Motorcycles, which is affiliated with the Bloor Group, an organisation that set up the Chris Banton Foundation. The Crick is grateful to have received £50m to support translational science and £17m towards the Skylab project from the Chris Banton Foundation in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
The bike featured in the 2024 Nashville Supercross Championship, which raised over $1m for to support the work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a childhood cancer and pediatric disease treatment facility. Specifically, the bike raced in the "Love Moto, Stop Cancer" race, in which all teams and riders sported special attire to honour the young patients at St. Jude's.
The race featured 22 riders, with Triumph Racing's Jalek Swoll coming in fifth place, for his best finish at that point of the season.
The bike is intended to be auctioned off for charity to raise valuable funds for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The bike and uniform are in the atrium opposite the lifts. Crick alumuni, if you're joining us for an upcoming Crick Lecture or Careers talk, do make sure you catch it then! Look out for the Crick logo towards the rear of the bike, near the seat. The next stop of the bike's tour will be the Cancer Research UK HQ in October, so catch it while you can!
