Careers in… drug discovery in industry and academia
For this special instalment of our monthly ‘Careers in…’ series, we’re joined by Crick alumni and friends to discuss their careers in this area, with panellists representing big pharma, biotech, and academic spin-outs.

We’re delighted to be joined by more than 20 organisations to showcase their career and academic funding opportunities. You’ll have the chance to network with organisations including start-ups, funders, big pharma and biotechs.

THURSDAY 11 MAY
Discovery without borders: pursuing an independent academic career outside of the UK
Join us online to hear from ex-Crick postdocs who moved into PI roles across Europe and Asia. They’ll be sharing their experiences and insights about moving to these different countries and organisations.

The value of professional registration
This panel talk will explore the benefits of professional registration for technical staff across the Crick. We’ll be joined by hiring managers, representatives of registration boards, and Crick technicians who have recently gone through the process themselves.
Lunch will be provided for this informal session.
Who is this for? LRS and technical staff across the Crick wanting to know more about how professional registration can help you.
This highly interactive half-day workshop is designed to help you think about your career. You’ll explore your strengths and motivators, discuss your career challenges and learn the practical strategies which can help move it in the direction you wish to go. Alongside the workshop, attendees will be given access to icareercoach® - a huge e-learning library of career advice and features to help you with every aspect of your career.

Aimed at both mentors and mentees this workshop will give you the skills and confidence to be an effective mentor, and know what to expect, and what is expected of you, as a mentee.

Clinicians at the Crick – connect & engage drop-in session
Have you got a burning question or any new and exciting ideas about how we can engage with clinicians at the Crick and support you in your clinical academic careers? Join us for tea, coffee & snacks and a chat on Thursday 18th May in the atrium. We are interested in any ideas you have ranging from networking opportunities, feedback on our clinical engagement activities such as Crick Clinical Grand Rounds & Medicine at the Crick, and how to make the most of the CrickConnect clinicians group.
