The event attracted lots of attention from passers-by, along with supporters and family who were there to cheer the abseilers on. Several of the abseilers were from the Crick community, with some even dressing up for the occasion! Donna Groom deserves a special mention for her bat woman outfit! Some participants really enjoyed the experience, while others found it frankly terrifying!
I took part as my father has had 2 cancers in as many years and has come out of the other side thanks to the advances in cancer research. I was terrified when I got up there but so glad I did it as you should do something that frightens you every so often to make you feel alive. I wore the bat woman costume as an incentive to raise as much money as possible as I promised to if I raised over £500. Im at £750 currently with a few more promised for money to come.

I am so happy that Donna encouraged me to take on this challenge, and it turned out to be a truly rewarding experience. Not only did it give me a great sense of belonging to the Crick community and its initiatives, but it was also incredibly fulfilling to raise funds and know that I contributed to such an important cause.

So far, the event has raised more than £14,000 for CRUK, congratulations to everyone involved! There's still time to make a donation if you would like to sponsor our abseilers.
