At this careers talk, a former Crick researcher and our Chief Information Officer will share their knowledge and experience of scientific careers in the IT sector, for anyone interested in making a similar move.
James Fleming is the Crick's Chief Information Officer, heading up our ITO department. He has a Masters degree in Physics from the University of Oxford, and over 14 years of experience in the Information Technology sector.
Ian Grant earned his PhD in Theoretical Chemistry from the University of Bristol. His academic career took him to the Centre for Theoretical Chemistry in Germany, The NIMR and then the Crick, where he worked under Mike Gilchrist as a postdoc. He is now a Research Computing Engineer at King's College, London.
They will speak about their own career paths, their current roles, the challenges and rewards of working in the sector, and any additional information that would be useful to scientists thinking about making a similar move.
