The CrickConnect team are delighted to be able to invite community members to join us for the institute's regular Crick Lecture.
Crick Lectures provide a broad insight into biomedical research from leading scientists. Not to be missed, the one-hour lectures are the event of the week for the Crick community to come together. The lectures aim to be accessible to scientists across different disciplines, while also offering something for the specialist.
There is also an opportunity to catch up with colleagues and friends over refreshments after Crick Lectures from 17:00. If you are able to join us in person at the Crick please let us know at connect@crick.ac.uk so we can arrange access.
Tim Weil is Professor of Developmental Biology at the Department of Zoology, and Deputy Head of the School of the Biological Sciences, University of Cambridge.
The Weil lab aims to address the fundamental, and fascinating, question of how a single cell becomes a fully functioning organism. It wants to understand the mechanisms that underpin the spatial and temporal coordination of egg and early embryo development. It has a particular interest in the role of biomolecular condensates in the regulation of mRNAs at these stages.
Tim Weil took his first degree at Washington University in St. Louis. He then spent 6 years in the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Princeton before moving to the University of Oxford in 2008 for a Marie Curie Incoming International Fellowship. In 2013 he moved to the University of Cambridge as an Assistant Professor, becoming Associate Professor in 2017 and Professor in 2023.
Professor Tim Weil from the University of Cambridge's Department of Zoology gives the 2024 Winter lecture at the invitation of the Crick PhD Student Committee.
If you'd like to attend in person please let us know at connect@crick.ac.uk
